The following for the Chicago Times is the only report of interest that has been rec'd up to noon today "Murfreesboro Jan 5. 1863 The Union army entered Murfreesboro today. Rebel Cavalry fled on our approach. The left in a panic on Saturday night & Sunday last, going south in three divisions. Their Cavalry guarded their rear, Our [*21020*] 2. Cavalry had a brush with them this PM six miles out. Bragg's army was demoralized by their slaughter & ill success where victory bad been so certainly promised them. They left without burying their dead, the union army now doing it. The search over the battle field reveals a terrible slaughter in their ranks. It will be double ours. Gen Rosecrans' army is in splendid spirits & eager to follow on after the enemy. Our loss will not exceed the figures given yesterday. No damage to railroad or town by the rebels. The panic & confusion of the people & the rebel forces [*21021*] 3. in their retreat after the battle of Saturday night was indescribable."
