ATROPIA.--Same as Belladonna. BELLADONNA.--Emetics--mustard flour in water ; give physostigma or pilocarpine ; cold to head. CANTHARIDES.--Emetics, emollient drinks, opiates by mouth and rectum, large draughts of water to flush kidneys. CHLORINE WATER.--Albumen, white of egg, milk, flour. CHLOROFORM.--Fresh air, artifical respiration (inclin- ing head down, pull tongue forward), brandy and ammonia intravenously in leg, the HYPODERMIC injection of 15 m. tincture of digitalis and I-60 of a grain of atropine. COLCHICUM.--Emetics, followed by demulcent drinks. If coma be present brandy, ammonia, coffee. Opium in large dose. Keep up external heat. CONIUM.--Emetics, followed by stimulants external and internal. CORROSIVE SUBLIMATE.--Albumen, white of egg (4 gr. sublimate require white of one egg), flour, milk, Equal parts of lime water and milk. Emetics, or evacuate stomach by pump. Poisons and Antidotes. COPPER SULPH.--Yellow prussiate of potash or soap. CROTON OIL.--Emetics; wash out stomach, followed by mucilaginous fluids, containing opium. DIGITALIS.--Recumbent posture after emetics. Emetics and opium; give tincture aconite. ELATERIUM.--Demulcent drinks, enemeta of opium, and external heat. HYOSCYAMUS.--Stomach pump, emetics, stimulants ex- ternal and internal, physostigma and pilocarpine. ILLUMINATING GAS.--Hypodermic injections of nitro- glycerin are recommended by Kloman, of Baltimore. IODINE.--Emetics and demulcent drinks, starch or flour diffused in water, opium and external heat. LEAD SALTS.--Any soluble sulphate, either magnesia or soda, succeeded by emetics, and afterwards by opium and milk. LOBELLA.--Stimulants externally and internally; exter- nal heat. MORPHINE.--Same as opium. NUX VOMICA.--30 grs. of chloral and 60 grs. of bromide of potash. Nitrite of amyl. OPIUM.--Atropine hypodermically till respirations num- ber 8 per minute. Stomach pump, stimulants, external and internal, brandy and coffee, cold affusion, ammonia to nos- trils, galvanic shocks, compelling to move about, artificial respiration, electric brush. Permanganate of Potash. OXALIC ACID.--Lime, not potash or soda. PHOSPHORUS.--Sulphate of copper in emetic dose as chemical antidote. No oils. Emetics and purgatives. POTASH AND SODA SALTS.--Dilute acetic acid, citric acid, lemon juice, fixed oils, demulcents, vinegar. SILVER NITRATE.--Solution of common salt and de- mulcent drinks. Emetics. STRAMONIUM.--Same as Belladonna. STRYCHNINE.--Same as Nux Vomica. TOBACCO.--Emetic, stimulants, external and internal, strychnine, external heat. To cash a $50 check for me- met Alice & clerks- & at the door met Frank Garrison, Wm Clark husband of Helen Bright - & accepted offer to go to the Vendome at 1 P.M. to New England women’s club banquet in honor of Julia Ward Howe- very nice- & after it went to Dorchester with H.D.B. & his Alice and spent the night - a good deal of careful talk our new President & her work before us- Wea. FRI. JUNE 8, 1900 Ther. at home got telegram at 3 A.M. that brother Merritt dropped dead at 8.30 Oclock least night -. I couldn't go to sleep again - It seemed so dreadful - his wife Mary Luther had left the Tuesday before [inserted - A.M.] 3 oclock. Had several telegrams from Brother D.R. after he arrived at Fort Scott at 1.30 P.M. - he told us he would attend to everything - it would be the last time I could go & do - so at 9 P.M. I started - went to Buffalo & took a fast train on the [?] R.R. - got another telegram after I was on board of Sleeper - saying don't come - but on I went - Weea. SAT. JUNE 9, 1900 Ther. All this day I was travelling across [?], Illinois & Wisconsin - & at 10 Oclock, evening, arrived at Kansas [Pit?] - it was fearfully hot - I didn't know whether to go to Fort Scott at 10.15 or to Leavenworth at samn hour, but had to decide quickly - & went to Leavenworth - Sister Anne came down & let me in - I found the funeral was going to be at 12 noon tomorrow - I was sorry I didn't go to Fort Scott but there was nothing to be done but to wait - Mary Luther & Maria Luther Walker arrived at Fort Scott at 1.30 this noon - It was fearful that Mary was gone for California - she was at her cousin Ruth - Desmond - [?] Wea. At Leavenworth Kan - The day was long - but fearfully hot - I was in spirit with them at Fort Scott - but at 6.30 - the train arrived & brother D.R. came of train alone - the hearse was ready - & Mr Page - who had been with us at Sister [?] death - little amenities - & dear niece Susie B.'s - went with us to Mount [Muncie ?] - it was beautiful there - & as we laid the dear body of mothers darling baby to rest - he was 66. the 19th of April - the moon shone down upon us so calmly & serenely - well - it was heart breaking - to feel that the poor boy's heart never found any rest or peace - but his long unrest was over - Has he joined dear mother & father are they all waiting the coming of those left behind - Wea. Nephew Burt was on train going into Fort Scott - yesterday noon - as Brother D.A. & the body of dear Merritt were on the the train going north to Leavenworth - so Burt did not get home in time for the funeral - The old soldiers of whom he was one - attended the funeral in a body - But the funeral was a lovely tribute to brother Merritt's life.- Rev Mr Porter officiated - he had lived there almost as long as brother - they had worked together in enforcing Prohibition law Wea.
