bid me goodbye took occasion 
to express his sense of the 
pleasant relations which have 
subsisted between us during all 
the negotiations we have carried 
on for a lease of the Mole
St. Nicholas
His whole bearing toward was 
inconsistent with the opinions 
expressed of me in the late papers 
received from New York. Can it be 
that the brave Admiral is after all 
a man of duplicity one who can 
smile to your face and stab you in 
the back. It is a hard charge to 
bring against any man.
