Following the ardu- ons labors and self-sacrificing trials she under- went in the German hospitals, subsequently at Strasbourg, Metz and Paris during the Franco- Prussian war and communism, she has been subjects to severe attacks of neuralgic affection and other nervous disorders, which like those of Florence Nightingale, result from over-taxa- tion. For several months she was confined to her bed, but for the past two months has been slowly convalescing, though with occasional severe relapses. While but little is known here of the extent of Miss Barton's work in Europe, it has not been unrecognized there, she having been presented with crosses of various order of Prussia and France. [?]
