Lent Mrs. Ruben $150 to set up millinery store Presided in evening at an- nual meeting of College League. Busy getting ready for journal. Got journal to press a day ahead of time. Julia Ward Howe 90th birthday member. Started for Geneva to speak at presentation of Aunt B's picture to the Elizabeth Black- well house. Mrs. Miller met me with carriage and took me home. Dinner and presen- tation of picture in even- ing; nice time.Prof. Leighton was brought over to dinner to be argued with on suf- frage and I had to wear my white lace waist and couldn't rest. Annie Miller took me to see Miss Rhoda Palmer, aged 93, who saw Aunt B. grad- uate and remembered Mamma. Ontario Co. Suffrage Convention. We went over in auto and I spoke A.M. and afternoon, walked in haste and took train for Boston. Mrs. Miller seeing me after. Reached Boston in A.M. presided at semi-annual meeting of State Board of Directors in P.M. and in evening went to sleep at suf- frage festival, where Zenblin and Dorothy Dix spoke. Dis- played banner. New England Annual meeting in A.M. - dis- cussed suffragette methods. Busy with journal in P.M. Got journal to press. Emily P. Collins Memorial number. Papa and I didn't get home from printing office till nearly 9.Went to Dr. Hobart. Spoke at "suffrage store" at 3 P.M. and told about Aunt B. Kept office hours. Went over to Anne Whitney's to see Mrs. Dargun. Met Aunt Nellie at train from Pope's Hill and saw her off to M.V. 20th cen- tury Club. Dole spoke, back from Hawaii. Uncle George and Emma came to lunch. Papa and I went to West Roxbury to see his new land. took wrong car and had pretty walk across fields; could not find land. In P.M. he went to abolition dedication at Av. Abington and I trans- lated Spanish poetry to Miss Palacios. Miss Wilde had tears in her eyes. Papa walked along cliff edge from Uncle George's to our cottage. In P.M. Alfred Robinson took him & me through Herring Creek in canoe, & we went to Jared Mayhew's from back and got milk. Ther. Mon. Aug. 23, 1909 Wea. Papa went home at 5.30 A.M. Mr. and Mrs. Barrows & Esther drove to Cottage City, & Esther went on home. Got things ready for journal, & walked with Marina Toopoozian. Ther. Tuesday 24 Wea. Busy getting off stuff for journal. Took a walk with Marina. Aunt Nettie came over to see about stones for her sea-wall, & I took her to Aunt Jemima's & showed her what she could crave. Ther. Wednesday 25 Wea.
