Blackwell Family General Correspondence Baldwin, Celia Blackwell, Alice Stone2741 Fed. Blvd. Denver Colo. June 22 1930. To Alice Stone Blackwell. Dear Comrade : I am writing now to thank you for the card with the beautiful poem and to tell you how glad I was to know about the book of poems. A friend mine lived in Argentina for five years. She acquired a good deal of conversation. at Spanish and is very fond of the language but she has always been so busy She has never had the time2 to learn much book Spanish as soon as I saw the notice of your translations I said "I know just what to give Mrs. Mantz[?] for a Christmas present"; and I straightaway ordered the book through " The Brokey" which is run by a friend of mine. Perhaps you will be pleased to know that my selection was a fortunate one. Mrs. Mantz[?] writes me, "And I want to tell you - when I opened that lovely book - you should have see my surprise. I said "Oh!" & I have a hard time to keep it out of my hands, I love it so, and I shall learn a lot from it. My! what a wonderful woman Miss Blackwell must be." There, now. Doesn't that make you 3 feel good? I get a great deal of pleasure out of it even at second hand. I am sending you a little book which was written by a sister of mine just before she died, on Christmas 1928. I think it was her last piece of writing. with all good wishes I am Sincerely Celia BaldwinCelia Baldwin Pleasant word
