Blackwell Family General Correspondence Orins, Gertrude W. Blackwell, Alice Stone P.O. Box 166, Ocean Grove, N.J., Feb. 9th, 1919. Miss Alice Stone Blackwell. Dear Madam: Have just read, in The Woman Citizen, your account of Catherine Breshkovsky's plan for bringing up as many as possible of the four million orphans of Russia in Farm colonies, and enlisting young Americans as Teachers and nurses. The idea seems to me an especially fine one, and I hope it can be accomplished. You say that she hopes to raise money in America for the carrying out of these plans. If this really takes practical shape, so that there can be reasonable assurance that the object will be attained, I would like to make some contribution toward it, thought it could only be a small one - probably twenty-five dollars. Would be glad if you could send me further information on the subject. Sincerely yours, Gertrude W. Orvis.
