Dear Cousin Alice:
You have not heard from me in
a long time, but I often
think of you - When you
wrote me asking about
Ethel I saw her a few
days afterwards, + told
her of your inquiry + she
said that she would
write you + answer your questions - So I delayed
writing + I think that I
have been very [?]But you will forgive me,
I feel sure-
Last summer just 
before leaving for New
York I went for a walk
at Sugar Hill New Hampshire -
I wanted to go
to a field on Iron Mt.
where I used to paint
some years ago - the 
field had been given
over to wood-land +
as did not know it I tried to go through
the woods. I lost my way + could not find
my break in the woods

Finally I was able to 
get out, but I was so
tired that when I got
back to New York I
had to rest for some
time - Now I am all
right, but many things
I wanted to do were
put off - one was
my letter to you -
As usual I had
your "greetings" printed+ gave me to the members 
of our Alliance - I had
one placed at each seat
at table. How much they were
appreciated. I have done
this for several years,
but this time the people
seemed to value them more.
Mr Holmes said that
the lines about worry were
good for him, as he
was a "worrier" + he
thanked me for having 
the cards at our luncheon.
One lady says that she 
put the card in her
mirror + reads a

message each day - 
I told the women that 
you made up the card,
+ that Lucy Stone was
your mother. So you see
that the cards gave
much pleasure + I 
sent many away to
friends in different
states.
I was wondering what
I could make for you
+then I had to stopsuch as my eyes got
tired-- Now perhaps you
will tell me whether
you need an [apron?]
or a black bag, or
a neck scarf or what?
When I hear I shall
try to what you
desire-- Excuse this blot!
I wish that I could
get to see Ethel oftener.
She seems well +
busy with the Church
+ friends-- Horace came
to be here at Christmas

Rita + Gerry were here for
two weeks + are just
returning - Gerry is a
dear child[baby] + he is now
like a little boy.
We have an associate
pastor to help Mr. [Holmes?]
Mr. Doald Harrington
His wife is a minister --
She was ordained in
Czechoslovakia I think --
the first woman to be ordained in that
country
They have two little
children -- He waspastor of the People's
Unitarian Church in
Chicago for 5 years --
He is 30 years old + is
working hard -- I shall
enclose a few quotations
from our calendars --
