Resolved, That we deplore the outrages committed upon the Armenians, and record our appreciation of the unflinching heroism of our Armenian sisters in sacrificing their lives in defence of their honor and the freedom of conscience; and we earnestly urge upon our sisters in Great Britain and other countries of Europe to use their influence with their governments that they may take immediate action to establish the security of life honor and property in Armenia. '95.] Whereas,-we have in our possession numerous letters from trustworthy American Citizens residing but a short distance from the scene of the alleged massacre, confirming the reports in all their horrible details; and, ¶ Whereas, we know the methods of the Turkish Government in the treatment of their Christian subjects in Arminia to be cruel and barbarous, by authenticated reports from Consuls and others; and Whereas, numerous massacres within our memory, as those at Chios, Crete, Damascus, and Bulgaria, all committed by the same Government, tend to support the truth of the reports of this latest massacre; and, ¶ Whereas, we believe it to be our duty to urge our government to use every available means to find out the truth concerning this massacre, and to use [her] its influence to put a stop to such barbarism, Therefore, be it resolved, that we [the people of the] a Congregation [of the Union Cong'l] assembled in Christ ([Refd ?]) Church [of South Weymouth] Boston, Mass. do most emphatically protest against the actions of the Turkish Government in persecuting defenceless men, women, and children; and we believe it to be [our most solemn] the duty of all civilized nations to put forth some effort to raise from their suffering condition our Christian Brethren of Arminia.So.
