BLACKWELL FAMILY ELIZABETH BLACKWELL From Macdonald, J.M.Jan 29th 1897 47, Seymour Street, Portman Square. W. Dear Dr. Blackwell I have just heard from my friend the Medical student in Edinburgh. She knows nothing of the Association of which you wrote and in spite of enquiries has not succeeded in obtaining any information. As regards the incident in Prof. Rutherford's class room she writes, "It seems that during one of Prof. R's vivisection experiments two men walked out, one had an appointment of some sort & theother was going to volunteer drill. She also sent me two Scotsmans with one or two letters and a leader on the incident but they give nothing more in the way of facts very likely you may have seen them. I am very sorry to be unable to give you more information. It is difficult really to arrive at what is the truth in matters of this kind, for nearly everyone starts with a bias and that may influence the way in which facts strike them. Believe me Yours very truly J.M. Macdonald p.s. I have not seen Richardson's book but should like to do so. J.M.M.
