BLACKWELL FAMILY Henry B. Blackwell Smith, Judith W.Office of The Woman's Journal No. 3 Park Street. Boston, Mass., Dec 23 1902 Dear Mrs. Smith A few days ago I enclosed a petition for municipal suffrage in their own behalf, to which I want to get the signatures of East Boston women taxpayers, in time to have it presented with a bill just as soon as the Com on Election Laws is appointed which will be about Jan 10. My plan is to have a hearing at once & get the matter debated & voted upon early, so as to enable the Mass Assn to bring in their petition for full municipal suffrage for women on same terms as men later & then compare the votes given respectively on the two propositions. Will you set some of the younger E Boston workers to circulating thispetition. It is not necessary to have very many names, but they need be taxpayers & owners of property. Yours truly Henry B Blackwell PS This is not a society petition, but one by individual women taxpayers in their own behalf.
