Dugald sends love & many thanks for the nice long letter. + the poetry about Jock. it was just splendid. + the boy hopes he will be able someday to write poetry as good as Miss Alice Blackwell. Jock should feel highly honored to have such nice things said about him. Dugald has gone to a boys boarding school in Helensburgh. he started on 9th September so this is a strange quiet house. + I miss him terribly. he is now 6 1/2 years old. had a year with Miss Beattie. + could read + write nicely count 100. + tell the time splendidly he is very smart at his lessons. + learns so quickly. I had a very good school report today. he eats well sleeps splendidly has settled down wonderful + accepts being at school in a most sensible way. the matron says he is as good as gold. I am anxious he should have a good education + Larchfield School is a splendid school. but oh it was the parting with him I miss him terribly + only hope I shall get accustomed to him being away soon. he often talks of you + he packed a nice lot of John Martin's books to go with him to school + his boats. He is so pleased with his magazine + looks forward to them every month I shall readdress Oct. No. to school. We shall think of you Dear Miss Barry Blackwell on 5th Sept.
