Anna Dickinson General Correspondence Whittier, John Greenleaf 1871-88 Amerkeey 8th 4 Mo 1871 My dear fd Permit me to introduce to thee my valued friend Anna E. Dickinson of Philadel[?] of whom Newhart no doubt heard as the most eloquent female speaker in the U.S. She is born of good-old Quakerstock, and has done noble service in the Anti-Slavery cause. She naturally desires to see the great Quaker States man & orater: and I am sure it will give thee pleasure to meet her. I have been re-reading thy two vols of speeches; and have come to the conclusion that there is nothing superior to them to in the Paliameetery eloquence of England. In amoral point of view they excel all others. Beleve me alwys & truly thy fd John G. Whitteir John Bright M.P. Rockdale Eng.Amesburg 5/23 1888 My dear frd Thy letter reaches me via “Danvers”.
