70 words, perhaps both sides of intended to be entered into diary:

Visit to New York '78
July 3--[Visited] Stopt at Tribune office to read proof of a
gossipy letter I am to have printed in the paper.

July 5--We have had a week of 'heated term'. Singularly
quiet Fourth yesterday. No public celebration at all--no city
fire--works in the evening.....I am standing the heat well, so
far. A great airy room, and good bed-water and bath at pleasure.
