Parker, Cambridge, Mass. My dear Miss Parker: We wish to acquaint you with the fact that New York Infirmary for Women and Children, which owes its beginning to the Society of Friends, was forced to close its doors last March owing to lack of funds. The staff of Women Physicians and Surgeons is launching a Campaign to raise $200,000 to enable the Infirmary to reopen and carry on the splendid work it has always done. Particularly at this time, when our enlisted men are offering their lives in the service of their country, we must be in the position to care for their Mothers, Wives and Children. The Pre-Natal Clinic, the Out-Practise Department, the Dispensary, the Maternity Service of the Infirmary, the Surgical Department, all these are essentials to the sick women and children among the very poor of the lower Eastside of New York. Give us your interest and your support. New York Infirmary must "Carry On." Most Sincerely, S Josephine Baker MD MLJ/LP Executive Chairman Transcribed and reviewed by contributors participating in the By The People project at crowd.loc.gov.
