NAWSA General correspondence Barooshian, Stephen M. [*Stephen Barooshian w check*] July 29, 191 848 Eye St. Fresno, Cal. My dear Miss Blackwell; It is a long time since I wrote you my last letter. The reason was simply because I did not have anything special to write about. I am sending $25.00 and will also send another $25.00 in the latter part of August. My health is good and am planning to resume my studies at Stanford University. They admitted me as a regular student. Now, a ticket to Boston costs $120. It is for this reason that I will not come to Boston; besides, I am not sure if there are opportunities for self support. By the end of September, I expect to have about $200 saved. This will enable me to study for at least one more year. The Cost of living is abnormally high, and the wages are comparatively low. I get $3.50 for the hours farm work. I will try to return back your contributions as soon as it is practical. At least you may be perfectly sure that you will get them. I wish you have a very pleasant summer vacation. Yours gratefully, Stephen M. Barooshian Stephen Barooshian w check Sept. 29, 1919 $25 Stanford University Palo Alto, Calif. My dear Miss Blackwell; In my previous letter, I promised to send another $25 in the latter part of August. I failed to do so, just because I was away from Fresno during the fruit season. I returned last week and immediately left for Stanford. I am sending $25. Have made application for work, because if I do not find a position, it will be practically almost impossible to stay here. A student needs over $500 if he does not work during out of school hours. I hope I will be able to find some work here. Stanford is a big university, and offers many opportunities for self support. For the present my address will be the following S. Barooshian General Delivery Stanford Univ. Palo Alto, Cal. I hope you had a very pleasant vacation during this summer. I will be exceedingly glad to hear from you from time to time. Yours gratefully, Stephen M.
