NAWSA GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE Gladstone, W. Hawarden Dec. 20. 55. Dear Sir Before receiving your letter of the 17th I had written to [Bert?] Griffiths on the subject to which it refers; [and] I mean since your interview with him. The necessity for any direct answer to your request for a personal meeting with me or with Mr [Freshfield?] is I hope suspended at present: but it will of course be open to you to renew it should you think proper when you find that you and Mr. G. may be likely to come to issue. It will I think be most convenient for all parties, to obviate misapprehension, that I should address you, when occasion may arise, through him: but of course any communication you may make to me direct will at all times have the best, I regret to say it must have imperfect consideration which it is in my power to give it. I notice your references to the other vacancies you hold, but I presume the same partnership does not exist in these cases. I remain dear sir Your very faithful servant Wm Gladstone T.H. Blackwell Esq [*Gladstone*] [* to J. Keny on Blackwell*] Transcribed and reviewed by contributors participating in the By The People project at crowd.loc.gov.
