NAWSA GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE HARMON, David P. [*1854 about success of lectures*] Haverhill Feby 25, 1854 Miss Lucy Stone Allow me to say that the triumphant success which has every where attended your lecturing efforts this winter has been highly gratifying to me. I suppose the fame you have thereby acquired as a Lecturer is now such that your labors are in great demand. I judge so in part from the unsuccessful application of our friend James. D. West to have you come to Haverhill. If the effect of your great success is to deprive us here in Haverhill of your presence occasionally [of your labors altogether] I don't know but I shall be selfish enough to wish it had been less complete. But I trust it will not be so. I presume you require rest + I hope you will take all the time you need for that purpose. And when you are rested + your present engagements are fulfilled I hope you will then favor us with a visit. And I assure you there are large numbers here who will give you a hearty welcome. We are to have a lecture here in opposition to the Nebraska Bill on the evening of the 5th of March by Mr. Wasson of Groveland. On the 12th of March Mr. C. C. Burleigh is to be with us day + evening. As soon after that time as you can conveniently come we should be exceedingly glad to have you do so. If you accept this invitation and can set the time or intimate near the time when you can come we should be glad that you would. Sunday is the day of the week we should prefer. Please favor me with an answer as soon as convenient and much oblige Yours very Truly David P.
