I don't know how to thank you. I think it is so very kind of you and just what Miss Bonnie Blackwell would do herself. It made her happy to be kind to little children and elderly people the children used to say when they would see her on the road my mummy says that is the kind lady that gives us all the good things and they would run after her and Pat Joak knew them all and would wag his little tail we have had a beautiful summer even October some days was as warm as June This is the 18th we have very wet-cold stormy days so we must not complain. The grave is very nice & tidy. I visit it every sunday. I pass it on my way to mother's. I hope you keep well and don't suffer pain again. Thanking you. yours aff.- Christina S. Kelly Burn Bank 2nd July 1936 Dear Miss Blackwell. I hope you are keeping well and was not very upset with the loss of our dear little [?Pershy?]. We are glad she was with her own when it happened. You have been so good & patient with her all those years. I hope the end was peaceful and she did not suffer. I felt very sad as I stood on that spot and thought how often she had done the same when visiting her dear Sr's grave. But we must not grudge her her well earned rest and she is with her dear one today. How nice you were able to gratifie her wish and have her brought back and laid beside her Argyllshire hills that she loved so well. We had one regret. That Miss Bell was prevented from being with us that day. She certainly would had been able. Poor dear has had a long time in the nurseing home. She is feeling the heat and weary [?] to get to her own house. you have never met her But you would like her She is a sweet lady so thoughtful and sympathetic for others. My mother who keeps fairly well, considering her years/and my self wish to Thank you very much for the nice kind letters you have written us so regular in all those years Love and all the good wishes from both Yours Very Sincerely Christina S. Kelly [*Christina Kelly*] Binn Bank 20th March 1939 Dear Miss Blackwell I received your letter on the 18th Inquiring about Mr. John Scott He retired from Kilmun Hotel nearly 9 years ago. Rented a private house in Kinn near Dunoon His eldest son Willie took over the Hotel He came by bus twice & three times a Week to see how his son was doing. A year past in Feby- He was sound as us all and to all appearances Very Well that day That evening while undressing preparing for bed. He took a stroke. Died a few days afterwards Yes I am sure he would have made some suggestions which would have helped. I am very sorry I have not been able to help you. A friend of mine listened to a appeal for funds for the new wing Attached to the Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell Memorial Hospital on the 8th of March. I was so sorry I did not know it was to be on the radio It would have been most interesting to me I often think about Miss Barry Blackwell what a good kind lady she was and always so bright and happy in spite of her afflictions. I can not tell you how mother and I missed her Sunday visits when she left Kilmun. Please don't think you trouble me by writing I am only too pleased. If I can do any thing at all I regret very much I can be of no help in this matter. Kindest regards and all good wishes Yours Sincerely Christina S Kelly Transcribed and reviewed by contributors participating in the By The People project at crowd.loc.gov.
