[*NAWSA GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE Phillips, Lena Madesin*] May 9, 1933. Miss Lena Madesin Phillips, President, National Council of Women, Vanderbilt Hotel, New York, N.Y. My dear Miss Phillips: I enclose herewith a copy of a letter I received from the Smithsonian Institution together with a copy of my reply. Cordially, CCC:HW. October 2, 1934. Miss Lena Madesin Phillips, 233 Broadway New York, N.Y. My dear Miss Phillips: I have this moment received your letter concerning broadcasting. I am going to ask you to excuse me, because I do not like broadcasting and I find it altogether too much trouble. I suggest that you ask Mrs. William Dick Sporborg, Hawthorne Avenue, Portchester, New York. She is Secretary of the National Committee on the Cause and Cure of War and broadcasts splendidly. She has a good voice and knows her subject always. Please put her on and excuse me. Many, many thanks. My secretary reminds me that when preparations were being made for the exhibits at the World's Fair last year, I wrote on your behalf and asked the Smithsonian Institution to loan you the shawl Miss Anthony used to wear. I received back all the things I loaned you. I am not at all sure that Miss Anthony's shawl ever went to Chicago and I am uninformed as to whether, if it did, it was returned. I am sure there is nothing to worry about. Very sincerely, Transcribed and reviewed by contributors participating in the By The People project at crowd.loc.gov.
