NAWSA GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE Rowe, L.S. Dr L S Rowe [R] L. S. Rowe Director General E. Gil Borges Assistant Director Pan American Union Union of American Republics Washington, D. C., U. S. A. October 1, 1926 Dear Miss Blackwell: I have your letter of September 26, and earnestly hope that it will be possible for you to secure the publication of the works of Latin-American poets. This would mean a very real contribution to a better appreciation by the people of the United States of the cultural products of the Latin-American nations. Your letter to the Carnegie Foundation should be addressed to Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, who is the presnet Chairman of the Educational Division of the Carnegie Endowment. There is no longer an Inter- American Section of the Endowment. This Section was abandoned immediately after the death of Dr. Goldsmith, who was the Director of the Section. All these matters are in the direct jurisdiction of Dr. Butler. I may add, for your information, that there may be some difficulty in securing an appropriation for the purpose you mention, as I have recently received letters from Dr. Butler relative to other matters which indicate that no funds of the En-dowment are at present available for new projects. I hope, however, that sometime in the near future it will be possible for you to secure the cooperation you are seeking in the publication of this important work. Very sincerely yours, L Rowe Miss Alice S. Blackwell 3 Monadnock Street Upham's Corner Boston, Mass. L. S.
