NAWSA General Correspondence Sewall, Harriet W. (Mrs. Samuel G.) Mrs. Sewall 1881 Dear Mrs Stone I am much pleased that you like my little story and have no objection to its going into the Journal, indeed should be glad to see it there, but Mrs. [Diarn?] wants me first to read it at an entertainment they expect to have it at the Union, and as I have never done anything except for my own department there, and have been playfully accused of great partiality, I should be glad to assist. She also thinks she can get money for the verses by sending to a magazine she deals with, and says it; but poetry is not a very marketable thing, and I doubt it - Supposing she could however, which would you rather have, the verses for your paper, or the money for your cause - You shall choose- If it amounts to much I advise you to take the money - Cordially H W Sewall- April 9th Transcribed and reviewed by contributors participating in the By The People project at crowd.loc.gov.
