Therefore I have made inquiries and find that I can get Men that are acustomed to the work who will furnish their own saws for 12f per day - if you say so I will put on two men (Sawyers) and if it is necessary to Keep the force the same, he (Glap) can dispensehence with 2 rubbers, as it will not be necessary to have as many rubbers if the Stone is sawed Resfy B. I should think it desirable that a [that a foreman for the] [oficial nursery] foremen be appointed at this time to have [particular] special charge under the general oversight of the Superintendent [of providing] of procuring and caring for material for planting. Notice to applicants: The number of persons daily applying for appointments as clerks, keepers, foremen, laborers &c on the Central Park renders it necessary that the Superintendent should state publicly that few, if any, such appointments, can hereafter be made of persons who have not already been employed on the Park. No application will hereafter be considered except it is made in accordance with the following rules, established with the approval of the Commissioners of the Park. 1st Applications for employment of mechanics, laborers, cartmen, teamsters &c (after being approved by one of the Commissioners of the Park), must be presented by the applicant in person to the Property Clerk of the Board on Friday or Saturday from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the Arsenal on the Park. Cartmen and teamsters must in every case, present their carts and teams for inspection. Copy for Printer [?] [?] 2d. Applications for foremanship and for all other duties, than those above indicated must be made in writing, eachendorsed "Application for - - - - ", and must have received the written approval of a Commissioner of the Park. They should be addressed to the Superintending Engineer of the Park, and may be sent by mail or otherwise, to his office at Mt St Vincent in the Park. 3d. Applicants for foremanship whose ap- plications have been filed and entered, will be examined with reference to their qualifications every Friday, between the hours of 11 and 2 o'clock at the office of the superintendent and at no other time. All applicants must have been resi- dents of the city of New York for at least three months before application.
