I have a small dirt drift at my front door — Even last night in the moonlight the wind blew so hard I got up and closed all windows and doors but in the room where I sleep — Maurice is going next week — I went down and saw Cady Tuesday. He looks well — going toward the Pacific. His place is all so lush — [unintelligible] will have less and less. My painting is moving — a new kind of color has come from my [steering?]. G July 1945 [*July/45*] Henwar - I am sending you a telegram today saying I intend to arrive in N.Y. on November 1st - I am so afraid that if you go to California 1st you will not get back However with travel as it is I suppose that is the reasonable thing to do My world is fine since Maurice is gone - - and last evening I found such a fine wide place to take you to Oh - yes - the world here is very good Maria has been here 6 days ~ goes today. She is alright when she isn't here all the time ~ There has been a little much needed rain the past few days ~ Makes the world fresh No really hot weather yet Stop over for a day or two on your trip west ~ and I do so hope you get here — tho I will not really believe it till it happens Love G ~ Transcribed and reviewed by contributors participating in the By The People project at crowd.loc.gov.
