Dear Sue,~
Days may come and days may go, but where they go to, I don’t know. Another birthday in France. A year ago I celebrated it in a billet and an [illegible] chateau. This year I am in this town. Here’s hoping that one year from now I will be able to be with you somewhere in America. It is hard to tell for one with my [disporetion]. If you can remember two years ago I had just came from Mexico, three years ago I believe I was in Pepperell and so on way back in 1910 when I was at May Ranch. That was the year I was twenty-one and little I imagined that I would be such a wanderer. Never
mind I have seen a good deal and met all kinds of people, lived under all kinds of conditions but have come to the conclusion that little old Boston is about the best town and that my own folks are the ones I love the best. Will not return form this big trip with any medals but will always have the satisfaction of knowing that I have done my bit. Perhaps my bit was not much but I have always done what I have been told to do in the best way I knew how. May I soon be with you all.
With love,
Edgar.
