>> Yo, yo, yo, what's happening; what's happening? What's goody; what's goody; what's goody? It's your man Jason Reynolds. And we are here again for another episode of the "Write. Right. Rite." Yo, you know one thing that we all do that we all be fronting like we don't do? We all sing in the shower or make up songs in the shower, right? Everybody think they're a musician in their head, or they can sing or rap or something, right? I think my joint would probably be like, I'm in the shower, washing my body, feeling the power, having a party or something like that, right? Like, I don't -- there's always something when I'm in there, because you know you're just letting your imagination, I think it's something about the water, where you let your imagination kind of do its own thing. Well, today is your lucky day, because today, I want you right now, your shower song, right now. I know some of y'all are like, I don't know how to write songs. It's all right. It ain't got to rhyme. It's just got to have a little melody. You got to have a little rhythm. It don't mean that it has to rhyme, or it has to have a hook or any of that kind of stuff. Just write down that thing that you imagine when you're in the shower, that strange sort of song that you just let kind of fly out of your head, and you're busting your move in there dancing because you think, you know, like, okay, ain't nobody here, and everything sounds good. Write that down, and let it flow, and just make sure it has a little rhythm and a little melody. It doesn't have to rhyme. And the reason why this is an important exercise is because writing is about rhythm, right? It's not even just language and, like, sentences and all these things you learn in school. It's also about music. It's about melody. It's about rhythm. Does it have a flow to it, right? And I think sometimes what we do in the shower, we could use when it comes to writing on the page. Give it a shot, and let me know how it goes, all right? Oh, before I go, let me tell you, tell your Auntie Mary that her potato salad is good.
