>> You, you, you, what's happening, what's happening, what's happening, it's me, it's me, it's me, I'm Jason Reynolds, welcome back to another episode of the Write Right Rite. Today, let's talk about book jackets, let me explain what a book jacket is, alright? Here are two books, right? This thing on top, this thing, is a book jacket, it comes off, right? Obviously, it comes off. Here's my thing, imagine you are a book, right? Imagine you're a book, you are a story amongst yourself, inside of you is all kinds of things, right? But imagine that the part of you that everybody sees is the book jacket, alright? We all see this beautiful book jacket, what happens if we take the jacket off? Now, this is the black book jacket, I mean this is a black book casing, right? All good, it's beautiful still, right? But it's different than this, right? I want you to talk about what color are you underneath the jacket? Like, I'll give you an example; my jacket, right? All this, the fade, the smile, the what's up, what's up, the right, right, right, but if you were to take it all off, sometimes underneath it, it would be the color blue because there are days that I'm pretty sad, there are days that I have a hard time, right? Or other days it would be yellow like this wall because I'm so full of energy and excitement and happens and joy. It just kind of depends, every day is different. But it's interesting because the book jacket never changes, right? The book jacket always seems to be the same in front of you all, but if I take that jacket off, there's a different color under there. Or, what if you take the jacket off, and it reveals a bunch of stuff, a different image? Right? What does it mean to take the jacket off and you're a whole different person under there? What if it's a whole other world that we're missing? Figure that out, think about that, it seems complicated but it's not. Just think about basically you're saying who, what color are you on the inside? Right? Are you blue, are you purple, are you yellow, are you green? And what do those colors mean to you? Are you floral patterned? Are you like raw paper, intricate and, like figure out what that looks like and draw it, write it down and express it, and write it and explain it, but also, I'd love to see maybe you draw it out if you need to, because that might be kind of cool too. Have a good time with that, I'd love to see what you make and that it means, you know, I want you to know that you're awesome. More often than you even think. Peace.
